Sports Themed Room for 10 Year Old Boy
My friend Kelly is a mom of 3 boys, and I’ve always enjoyed watching her thrive amongst the all-boy chaos.

Long before I had children myself, I always looked up to Kelly and imagined what my life would be like with a home full of boys.
The Eubanks clan is a family who loves hunting and SPORTS. Her husband, Alan Eubanks, is the head baseball coach for our high school team and their house is sprinkled with baseball bags, camo jackets, and football gear. Her kids are all phenomenal athletes, and her oldest son just left for college in August to play baseball for Southern Miss.
On top of sending her oldest off to college, she recently lost her mother. So when she reached out in the fall needing a happy project to brighten their home, I immediately said yes.
Their youngest son Mac is 10 and recently moved all of the “baby” stuff out of his room. Kelly wanted to give Mac a space that could grow with him into high school and beyond. Alan painted the room Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore, and Kelly wanted the room to feel traditional, but fun.
BEFORE

AFTER

I always love to think outside the box when hanging things on the wall. We debated hanging an American Flag above the bed, but these baseball gloves ranging from 1930-1970 were so much more interesting. My favorite thing about the vintage baseball gloves: you can actually see the names of the previous owners written on some of them. I sourced most of these from my friend Cody and Lauren who own
The West Place. Before hanging, we put all the gloves on the floor so we could figure out the formation that made the most sense--properly dispersing shape, color and texture. I hung each glove with long nails. Super simple.

I love the drawing Mac made of his family duck hunting. Bulletin boards are an awesome way to display memorabilia.
The bed, the curtains, and all the bedding was sourced from either Amazon, Target or Wal Mart—with price points that didn’t break the bank. All sources are linked here.
I love the bench at the foot of the bed and the texture it adds to the space. It reminds me of a bench you’d see in an old baseball dugout.

I found both these pieces at a local antique mall. The black and white baseball photo shows a team wearing jerseys that say "Huntington Lions." I thought it was neat because we are the Huntingdon Mustangs. The vintage cross stitch is a golden retriever holding a mallard duck. Mac duck hunts and has a golden named Gunner!
One thing Kelly really wanted was a space for Mac to draw. Mac takes after his dad in that he is very creative and artistic. I sourced this antique desk that has plenty of storage and shelves for knickknacks.
Mac’s number one rule for me: I could not use ANY red in designing this space because red is the color of our rival team. I sourced the old metal cabinet and throw blanket from a local antique mall, and Mac said I barely passed the color test, LOL. The two pieces have just enough of a brown-orange tint so that they work together in the space.
Overall, the space feels layered, cozy and mature, with subtle playful details throughout. Kelly mentioned that Mac has been spending a lot more time in his bedroom, something he didn’t do before!
As always, I try to source as much vintage as possible. Everything that could be linked is linked here.

This was the original design plan. I always start with a general plan, but changes are bound to happen in the process. Lots have asked about the rug, and you can find it here.
