Saying Goodbye to a Huge Part of My Business
I'm so excited for the changes happening in this season...
I released a podcast in October--6 days before I had a baby. We've somehow made it to episode 5! In this episode of the Open Your Own Door podcast, I’m sharing something really personal—what this season of motherhood has (honestly) been like and how it’s completely reshaped the way I think about work, success, and what I want my days to look like moving forward.
After having my third baby, I felt a shift almost immediately. I've always taken pride in being able to just "bounce back" and work hard though my postpartum seasons. I've always just strapped a baby to me and carried on like nothing ever happened. I was expecting exactly the same motivation to show up after birthing this baby. But this time...much to my surprise, a quiet, persistent nudge kept asking: Is the storefront still working for you?
I loved my storefront. I really did. I still do! It was something I poured so much of myself into—from the renovation, to the planning of events to curating the perfect displays. But postpartum life has a way of clarifying things. And the more I looked for clarity, I realized I just couldn't deny that my priorities were shifting.
I found myself tired in a way that sleep couldn’t fix. I was spending most of my time on tasks that didn’t feel fulfilling, and I had very little energy left for the parts of my work that actually lit me up. Somewhere along the way, the business started running me instead of the other way around. And honestly....I started to get bored.
That’s when I knew I needed to pause.
Stepping back from the storefront wasn’t an easy decision, but it was an honest one. I needed more space—for my kids, for my body, and for my nervous system. I needed to stop pushing just because I could. Just because you are good at something doesn't mean you should do it forever, especially if it's not serving you. Especially if it's draining you.
Self-care in this season doesn't look glamorous. It's not shiny and it's not something that gets instant gratification. It looks like saying no, slowing down, and letting go of something that once made sense--but doesn't anymore, And being completely at peace with that decision.
I'm not choosing to view this change as a failure. I don't really believe in failures--I just believe that every experience is a stepping stone--a stepping stone that will get me closer and closer to where I'm supposed to be in life.
This pivot was needed in more ways than just one.
I realized how much of my time was going toward maintaining something instead of growing into what’s next. When I gave myself permission to step away during my maternity leave, I finally had the clarity to see where I actually wanted to put my energy.
And honestly? I feel most alive when I’m helping other women—especially mothers—navigate their creativity, their ideas, and their next steps without burning themselves out.
This season has pulled me into a 10X mindset—not by doing more, but by focusing on what actually matters.
I’m choosing depth over hustle. Alignment over obligation. Work that feels expansive instead of draining.
When you stop forcing something to work, you create room for something that fits better.
If you’re in a season where things feel off—whether that’s in motherhood, business, or life in general—this episodeis for you.
You’re allowed to change your mind.
You’re allowed to rest.
You’re allowed to close a door and open a better one.
And sometimes, that’s exactly how you find your way back to yourself.
